Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What kind of camera do you use?
I shoot with a Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS and sometimes use the Joby Gorilla pod for stability. In September 2011, I purchased a gently used Canon Rebel XSi and Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens.
Hey, cool logo. Who designed it?
A friend that I met through an interface design course at Simon Fraser University.

This site is remarkable – a little too remarkable for a science nerd. What’s going on behind the scenes?
I’ve been interested in interface design for a few years now and have only worked on the front end side of things (the pretty and usable side). I wanted to learn more about the back end (tech stuff) and needed a creative outlet for my ever expanding love for food and cooking. After an entire year of hesitation and self doubt, I enrolled in an intro to XHTML and CSS night course at the community technical college (24 course hours). From there, I tried my best to build this site with the little experience I had. When I got to my wits end, I enlisted in the help of my web developer friends.
Do you do product reviews?
This is something for future consideration. I do product/work flow evaluations from a human factors and usability perspective for work and it would be neat to evaluate products for the home, especially for the kitchen.
What culinary experience do you have?
Only in the home kitchen. I have never taken culinary classes (with the exception of 8th grade home ec.) and my only experience working in a restaurant was a brief stint as a peppy but unsuccessful waitress during my university days.
Will you ever go to the dark side/ what about advertising?
I’m not sure what my answer is. I love cooking and sharing recipes and can imagine myself maintaining this site when I’m retired. However, it does take a lot of time to develop the web design and all of the content. As I begin posting regularly on this site (Jan 2012), I am clumsy and very slow: each posts takes over 2 – 3 hours of development and editing.
